Skrev denne til en standalone konkurranse jeg og ei venninne hadde, der vi skulle skrive en standalone med tittelen "Empty Promises".
Harry Judd stood outside the big brick building drumming his drumsticks on the wall. He was singing out loud to the music from his iPod. Closing his eyes focusing on the drumming and getting the words right. ”Cause I'm not a pawn for you to play in your fucking game. I've got dignity and a dream that I want to achieve. Under pressure, you crumbled and you let me down. I'm not deaf and all I hear are your empty promises”
Katrine Foldvik sat outside the big brick building on a bench, watching some weirdo guy mock around, singing out loud. She laughed and continued reading her book. “Oh how silly we’ve been!” Malfoy sneered. “We should have stroked them! Why didn’t we guess?” “I-I thought they were funny,” Hagrid said uncertainly to Hermione. “Oh tremendously funny!” said Malfoy. “Really witty, giving us books that try and rip our hands off!”
Down the aisle Katrine came, dressed in an off-white, strapless wedding gown. Her long hair was decorated with a few lilies, Harry’s favourite. She smiled. This was her day to shine, this was her wedding day and it was going to be everything she has ever dreamed of since she was a young girl. It already was just seeing him stand there next to the priest, waiting for her. Harry could barely keep the tears away seeing her in that dress. She was perfect and they were perfect together. Everyone could tell. It felt like forever before she finally stood next to him, mouthing towards him an “I love you”. Now he couldn’t hold the tears anymore, he was too happy.
“Do you, Harry Marc Christopher Judd, take the Katrine Foldvik who beside you stands, to be your legally wedded wife? To honour and cherish her ‘til the end of time? Do you promise to love her and stand by her side for better and for worse?” Through his tears he smiled and stuttered out an “I do”. The priest turned to Katrine and asked her, squeezing Harry’s hand she said “I do”.
“You have written own vows”. The priest made a signal for Harry to start.
“Katrine, I’ve never met anyone like you, and standing here before you today has made me the happiest man on earth.” Break to breathe and wipe away some tears. “I promise I won’t ever leave your side, and we’ll grow old together. For each wrinkle you get I’ll love you more.” Laughter. “I love you forever on.” Then the priest made a signal for Katrine. “I… I can’t really explain how much you mean to me, you’re my whole world.” Now she was crying happy-tears as well. I will never stop loving you, forever and ever. I want to grow old with you, watch our kids grow up, spoil our grandchildren rotten. I will always be with you.” The rings were exchanged, and then they shared a passionate kiss.
Holding hands as they came out of the church smiling like never before. On the church step they shared yet another kiss, before the guests threw rice at them. No one has ever seen a pair more perfect together than Mr. and Mrs. Judd.
On their way to the reception Harry and Katrine Judd couldn’t take their eyes off each other. “I love you” Harry said pecking the lips of his wife. “I love you more” Katrine answered stroking his hand. “Not possible” He replied shaking his head without breaking the stare they shared. “Way possible!” she giggled. The big white limo pulled up the long country road towards the big mansion barely visible at the end of it. Katrine was smiling daydreaming about the wedding waltz. They had been taking classes for a few months now, and she knew they would manage just fine. Harry’s mind was sat on the wedding cake. A four tier stacked chocolate cake with chocolate curls and hand-made lilies in white chocolate, can it get any better?
Then a big boom. Smoke from the engine. Car trouble on your wedding day, it’s typical. The driver, a nice bloke called Darryl tried his best to fix whatever it was, not going so great though, so Harry thought he might do better, rolling up his sleeves. “Don’t you dare get filthy now!” Katrine said giving her husband a strict look. He let out a grin before bending under the hood moving things around. Katrine started walking towards the mansion, as she had no faith in Harry as a mechanic. She was once again thinking about the waltz, smiling to herself, thinking it was going to be so beautiful. If she still managed to stay on her feet after the long walk that is. Then another boom. An enormous boom. As the wedding gown dressed lady in off-white turned around (Slow-motion of course) fear was sneaking upon her face. She tried to see through the smoke, yelling out Harry’s name. No answer. And she knew as she fell down on her knees, that she won’t ever get to do the waltz.
Katrine Judd sat outside the big brick building on a bench staring out in the blue. One silent tear was finding its way down her cheek. She hadn’t been there since the day she met her late-husband. She was angry at him. He clearly said they were staying together forever. He would never leave her side. Then just an hour later he broke his vows. Did he even mean them or was it just empty promises? Katrine wiped the tear away putting Harry’s earphones in turning on the iPod. He loved his iPod. She smiled at the thought as it started playing. ”Cause I'm not a pawn for you to play in your fucking game. I've got dignity and a dream that I want to achieve. Under pressure, you crumbled and you let me down. I'm not deaf and all I hear are your empty promises.”
